Cecil McGarry, SJ

Cecil McGarry SJ, Irish Provincial from 1969-1975, died peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday 24 November, in Nairobi, Kenya. After his time as Provincial, Fr Cecil spent some years as Assistant to Fr General Pedro Arrupe in Rome. In 1984 Fr Arrupe sent him as part of a team to set up Hekima in Nairobi as the theologate for East Africa. He remained in Kenya for the rest of his days.
