Irish Jesuit News (formerly known as AMDG.ie) is a service of the Irish Province of the Society of Jesus. Its purpose is to publish items of interest to Irish Jesuits and to the broader Jesuit community. These range from announcements and reports on events to longer articles and thinkpieces. As well as publishing them on the site, Irish Jesuit News also provides a news-feed service to other Irish Jesuit websites.
Each week, a selection of the most recent posts are compiled and sent as a newsletter – AMDG Express – to subscribers. To see this week’s newsletter, click on the ‘AMDG Express’ tab on the top of this page. To sign up for AMDG Express, click here. It’s free.
Another service of Irish Jesuit News is to facilitate internal communication among Jesuits of the Irish Province. Articles published in AMDG Update are visible only to those with valid logins. To view these articles, click on the ‘AMDG Update’ tab on the top of this page.
AMDG is an abbreviation of ‘Ad Maiorem Dei Gloriam’. This is Latin for ‘For the greater glory of God’. The initials AMDG have long been associated with the Society of Jesus. Pictures and statues of Saint Ignatius of Loyola often depict him holding a book with the letters AMDG written on it.
